Latest Progress on the GP30.......

We caught up with Cameron Lashley and VR Horton recently in the Train Artisan backshop working hard on the GP30 locomotive add-on pack.

It's actually grown into a full-blown add-on with a new custom cab, sounds, highly detailed model, realistic textures, and more special surprises.

It really has been a labor of love for both Cam and Verne!

Keep an eye on www.trainartisan.com for more info on the future release of this add-on!

Spot Light! New Train Artisan Associate - Jeremy Hopkin

Jeremy Hopkin is from Ontario Canada. He's had a passion for visual arts since he was a child through drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, etc.

Although Jeremy's career as of late has been leaning into the field of Graphic Design, and other forms of Digital Art Media, from time to time he uses more traditional means to help him along in several projects; and have found that the traditional media that he was schooled in to be a great asset.

Jeremy is also involved in local historical societies. He volunteers regularily by providing historical photo digital restoration, original artworks based on historical data, and helping the general public use the Society's Archives facility.

There are a few reasons Jeremy became involved in making rolling stock, buildings, posters, and re-skins for MSTS: He gained a great appreciation for Historic Subjects through his passion for art. It seems to him that so many of the designers and artists of the past had qualities that today are rarely matched.

Some of his favorites within the Vintage Railroad World: Artists: Leslie Ragan, Dean Cornwell, Industrial Designers: Raymond Loewy and Henry Dreyfuss Photographers: O. Winston Link And all of the uncredited artists, designers and photographers that railway companies used.

Jeremy feels that, "Everything in the days of the early part of the 20th Century, no matter how unimportant had stunning graphic qualities. Even though some of those qualities today look simplistic, I feel they still hold great merit today. I like to try to recreate my visions of the past in a creative way for others to see; hopefully people appreciate the visual beauty that I see in those design efforts, and in turn they are not completely forgotten by new generations that are continually exposed to new concepts. In many cases the things that I bring to life in MSTS no longer exist; the Sim seemed like a perfect way to recreate and immerse people into history in a way that two-dimensional photos just cannot accomplish."

"Another reason I'm into creating content for MSTS, my Father has a love for the Canadian Pacific Railway as it was in the 1950s; and of course, he took us kids along for trips to almost every single little town in Ontario and surrounding areas that ever had an old CPR station or locomotive to take pictures of; so I saw a lot."

Jeremy's father is an accomplished HO scale modeler, and photographer of railways, and has a resource of historical Canadian Railway information that Jeremy continually draw upon today. His father's interest in the past of the railways therefore stimulated Jeremy's interest in history in general.

Jeremy also felt that, "Train Artisan's focus on historic aspects of the railroads, and graphic quality seemed like common goals to my own. The 20th Century Ltd. and the Daylight trainsets have always been favorite industrial designs of mine as well; so well conceived and executed by their designers, they blur the line between design and art."

"From what I had seen, TA recreated them with the style and grace of the originals as best the limitations of MSTS would allow. I then felt a need to make something to help TA along (or at least show some appreciation for what TA had accomplished) so I made some reproductions of famous poster art originally developed by Leslie Ragan, etc. that featured TA models in the place of the artwork."

"Recently the group was nice enough to invite me in as an associate of TA, so far I have been developing reskins, replacement screens for MSTS with "Vintage" themes, and hopefully soon I will be making 3D models as well for TrainArtisan."

Keep an eye on www.trainartisan.com and see what Jeremy has in store for train sim fans this summer!

Spot Light! New Train Artisan Associate - Adrian van Oss

From time to time we like to spot light our newest talented artists. Adrian van Oss has been busy creating the large catalog of upcoming Freight cars.

Adrian comes from a relatively quite rural town in southern Victoria, Australia. Where he is happily married and currently working hard to put his 4 children through school.

Adrian is currently employed as a CAD draftsman in the building industry, specializing in structural steel detailing.

He's worked on construction jobs which range from small industrial factories to massive production and storage warehouses.

Adrian has always had a passion for trains ( within 50 kilometer of where he lives, they have two broad gauge mainline routes and two narrow gauge tourist railways plus numerous model train clubs and even enthusiasts who enjoy live steam models ) Also, having been into HO scale model trains as a teenager, he basically got hooked.

It was through the U.S. "Model Railroader" magazine that he grew to love American Iron. But over the past 10 years or so Adrian's involvement in the hobby had basically stagnated until the advent of Microsoft's Train Simulator.

Suddenly there was an opportunity to have that "dream layout" that modellers always talk about, but without having to sacrifice the family garage. So, currently Adrian is trying to reproduce his favorite railroad the "Western Pacific" as it was in the late forties and early fifties.

This gives him an excuse to model some great steam locos, first generation diesels and a wide variety of passenger and freight cars.

Expect to see some excellent models from Adrian in the near future!.
