The Empire State Express carries the name of New York as it's roadname. The name of the train itself is taken from a defining symbol of New York City.

We, at Train Artisan, feel that it is only appropriate that we dedicate this NYC Trainset to the brave firefighters of NYC who lost their lives to save the innocent victims caught in the tragedy at the World Trade Center.
